The pandemic of COVID-19 since January 2020 brought a serious impact on the global economy, in particular, aviation-related industries have been seriously affected as many countries implemented strict border control measures to prevent spread of virus. This situation urged many countries to consider prompt remedies to assist the industry to continue operation in terms of maintaining employment and public transportation network. We could say that this should be a necessary measure to be justified for public welfare, however, it might be a sort of countermeasure to global aviation deregulation policy to jeopardize fair competition in airline industry. It is true that only government could subsidize airline industry under this extraordinary situation, but at the same time it is so important to implement measures for recovery of air traffic as early as possible. Considering that the vaccine against COVID-19 would not be available shortly, one of the feasible measures should be immediate global coordination and cooperation for passengers to travel safely. This means implementation of new travel guideline to create of air traffic demand in "New Normal Society". |
